@IKKIsama You didn't do it correctly. You're supposed to look at every page of 6.XX anime. You have to click the Next 50 button to go through every page.

That being said, there are still tons of great shows with scores below 7.00 if they fit one's tastes.

Nah, I actually think you can find most hidden gems with a mean score of 7.XX. Anime with a mean score of 7 and below usually deserve it.

The good high rated shows are actually very good, but the bad ones are very bad...
6.something shows are generally less divisive, but that also means less of them are exceptionally good.
In your case I presume that's because that's where ecchi tends to end up.

As much as I am disappointed seeing so many Pokémon movies, the digimon tamers movie (people can't appreciate good fanservice), digimon adventures 02:the beginning (not a great movie but very fun with some interesting stuff, maybe people will feel better about it with a sequel), beyblade and B daman crossfire being there, I have to give it to Marco even though I personally didn't watch it since it's probably one of the two most (and only) culturally important anime where I am from so I have to give it to that

But then again, I do think there are many hidden gems in that category of 6.XX that I have rated higher than that, so it's not a bad idea to talk about these series from time to time :)

Most 6.xx anime do exactly the same things as the highest rated ones but with worse animation. Hidden gems rated low because they're too hard to digest for the average anime fan are rare.

Most MAL anime never go below 6.0 rating. So if an anime has 6.0 rating, it could be a show anywhere between 2/10 and 8/10. In other words, MAL ratings are useless.

Generally, I've found that the best anime tend to fall inside the 7.99-6.00 weighted score bracket, which is admittedly accounts for a very broad portion of series. But, it all comes down to what percentage of series' under/over a certain weighted score range you've watched (which means you have to consider a selection effect), and whether or not score induces a negative or positive subconscious prejudice in the viewer prior to even beginning the watch.

Usually 6+ but there is plenty hidden that probably rate a little lower. Also overall quality isnt equal to enjoyment. Something fairly poorly rated can have it's own audience where a few really liked it. I really have been under doing it with giving out 9s and particularly 10s and working on fixing that. Some of my favs I only rated maybe a 6 or 7...I probably need to reconsider some scores eventually

I'd say that most of them do yes, especially ones before 2010's.When I look at an anime I take into account members/production date and other stats and most times those before 10's fall between 5.95 and 7.8 ~.Also MAL reviews aren't the most objective (and let's face it most series above 8 are just the most popular ones).

Also many many many franchise released before the turn of the century are heavy with negative bias. It's due to piracy. Most Anime before the turn of the century and even up till the mid the 2000s was never meant to be digitally converted. When most modern Users who have never experienced older Anime before in the West they heavily rely on consuming such things through the use of piracy and torrents when not legally available for them. Automatically giving them beyond a subpar experience when consuming the Anime before the boom of the digital age of media. Which is a contributing factor to low MAL scoring simply due to atrocious video and audio quality experiences with the false perception that the Anime they consumed is simply just shitty when in reality they just experienced a shitty ripped digital copy from something that was meant to be consumed through analog means. Watching Anime in it's highest fidelity makes a drastic difference and greatly matters to a consumer like me which is why I never consume any Anime I have yet to experience, before the turn of the century, on anything but Officially released Physical Media. Where I usually hunt it down to buy and own simply to collect and to watch at my leisure.
Knowing these things one can create their own system to compensate for these known biases towards this medium in the west when one is looking towards anything that would fall under the things I have listed above when looking towards franchises they have yet to experience.
Yes at times some Anime can be perceived to deserve the low scoring they get. Though, more often than not, when experiencing something I have never seen before that falls under the above criteria that I have explained above tends to always obviously deserve better in my opinion.
Or an easier way to go about MAL scoring is simply just not give a shit and ignore them completely... lol

To an extent the shows rated 6.XX tend to be older, but the recency bias may be less obvious than I thought: https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/monff6/average_mal_score_of_every_season_in_the_past_40/#lightbox
